Understanding these reasons can help ease anxiety and guide you in taking the appropriate steps to address the issue.

We'll also address common misconceptions, such as whether a delayed period always means pregnancy, and discuss when it's time to seek medical advice.

Reasons For Delayed Periods

1. Stress

Stress is one of the most common reasons for a late period. When you're under significant stress, your body produces higher levels of cortisol, the stress hormone, which can interfere with the production of reproductive hormones like estrogen and progesterone. This disruption can delay ovulation or even prevent it altogether, leading to a late or missed period.
